Stars Truck

Starstruck21.JPG

The art deco style that emerged at the beginning of the 20th century returned the almost extinct public interest to the cabinet sculpture. The expressive and bright works made in this style are interesting even now. I have long wanted to do something like that. Feeling sufficient confidence in the use of model development tools, 3D printing and post-processing, I decided and did:

The art-deco sculpture depicts a beautiful young woman in a long fitting dress and with a theatrical headdress representing a constellation of stars. The figure raised on an integral plinth.

The model is made on the basis of the magnificent work of Jepe, clearly inspired by the wonderful sculpture "Starstruck", created by the famous 20th century artist and designer Erte. Roman Petrovich Tyrtov (1892 - 1990) working under the pseudonym "Erte" made a significant contribution in many areas, including fashion, jewelry, graphics, design of costumes and scenery for cinema, theater and opera, as well as interior design. Many of his works are currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian Institution in New York.

The original model was refined in ZBrush to produce a good 3D print in both small and large scale. For printing on a large scale, I made a version of the model, divided into two parts by height. Parts are interconnected with glue and pins installed in special channels.

First, I printed a 1/10 scale model (232 mm high) to check for printing and coloring. Then a 123-mm-high figurine was printed for a collection of car models, and on a 1/7 scale (363 mm high) to decorate the shelf in the living room.

I printed this model on an FDM printer Lad-1.0 on a scale of 1/7 and 1/10 (0.3 mm nozzle and 0.1 mm layer) and on a 1/18 scale (0.2 mm nozzle and layer 0.06 mm).
