Seven Vases

I once decided to print something large, useful, and at the same time not burdensome, positively perceived by family members to decorate the house. This should have been printed quickly, with no additional support costs and with simple post-processing.

For post-processing and finishing, I decided to limit myself to the minimum of the most affordable materials and tools, namely: a solution of ABS in ethyl acetate, sanding paper with a grain size of 100/180 and 250/320, several flat brushes, acrylic enamels and polyurethane varnish from the nearest building materials store.

The most suitable idea was to develop vases of a laconic form, with smooth bends and a smooth surface that can be easily processed. An unusual vase is a good idea, including for a gift, and this is also one of those things that really demonstrates the use of a 3D printer as an assistant in decorating a home, creating coziness and personality.

During work, requests for the final result grew, and I tried to get surfaces with almost mirror-like shine, the right highlights and with a beautiful play of light and shadow.

All vases of the series were printed from ABS plastic on a Lad-1.0 FDM printer with a nozzle of 0.5 mm and a layer height of 0.2 mm.

Tools and materials used:
